One of my passions is teaching. Before I became involved in Joomla, I was a teacher, and then a teacher of teachers. I even ended up being on teams that started a K12 school district, and a private school for challenged youth.
I know how people learn, and I love teaching them.
This desire to teach has been a constant as I have worked with Joomla. At compassdesigns.net, I have been producing high quality original tutorials and guides for Joomla since 2005, part of my contribution to the Joomla community. In 2007, I took this a step further and wrote one of the first books about Joomla. Nearly 3 years later, and in its 2nd edition, its still the best selling book on Joomla. Then came Joomla Training DVD’s, 9 hours of over-the-shoulder instruction. This year I got back into the classroom again and taught Joomla classes across New England and co-taught a 3 credit 15 week graduate course at Marlboro College Graduate Center with Jen McKibben (of New England User group fame).
I know Joomla, and I know how to teach it.
As I have been involved in all of this over the last few years, different ways to teach Joomla across the world, one thing people have kept asking me.
"So when can I take an online Joomla training class?"
Answer: Now…
I am super excited to start lifting the wraps off a project that has been in development for a while, an online Joomla training course we are calling Joomlashack University.
We think its going to be the have-to-have Joomla training course for people who want to learn Joomla. There are lots of sites springing up now that offer a collection of Joomla videos, tutorials and even forums. But many of these are just rebranded demo plazza videos, or recycled content.
Joomlashack University is different – is an online Joomla course developed by experts in Joomla AND experts in education. Its carefully constructed with best practices in how adults learn.
We will be opening very very soon with a limited charter membership. The lucky first members will get a first look at the course and a discounted membership.
