Recently I have been involved in a unique organization helping them to develop an RFP for their website. It’s a rural broadband ISP that is a non-profit, and trying to bring fiber optic connectivity to under-served areas of Vermont, and when I say that, I mean the places that don’t even have cell service, like my home town. It’s unique, because it’s actually owned by the towns it serves!
To quote ECFiber:
“East Central Vermont Community Fiber-Optic Network (ECFiber) is a joint venture of 22 towns and the City of Montpelier dedicated to building a universal, open-access, fiber-to-the-home network connecting all premises in the member towns. ECFiber at present has over 300 customers and an additional 50+ not yet connected subscribers in the pipeline. ECFiber’s development and expansion has been and continues to be funded through grass-roots fund-raising via private placement offerings. At present ECFiber has 300+ investors who also need to be informed via the website.”
They are looking for bids to convert their existing sites to a CMS. If you are interested, send an email to : Leslie Nulty, Project Coordinator, leslie.nulty@ecfiber.net, for a copy of the RFP.
